Getting Started With Agentforce on Salesforce

Have you been thinking about how to save your Grants team and Grantees valuable time and work more efficiently?

This week, I had an amazing call with a Foundation customer discussing various use cases for Agentforce, for saving time and increasing efficiency, and it got me thinking—how do we ALL  get started with AI and Agentforce?

Step 1: Define Your Use Cases

Start by identifying who will benefit from AI-powered Agentforce. Are your use cases designed for internal teams—like support agents, IT teams, or HR? Or are they geared towards external stakeholders, such as grantees or partners? Clearly defining the end users will help you shape your AI strategy effectively.

Some things I am seeing in the field right now for external use cases for Agents are: Regular support questions, where do I find my grant report deadlines in the grantee portal? How do I enable MFA? How do I find out when I should receive my next payment for my grant? How do I contact my program officer? How do I edit or submit my grant report?

Some things I am seeing in the field right now for internal use cases for Agents are: How do I use my internal Salesforce for setting up a grant idea? How do I tag a grant to a certain budget area? How do I summarize a grant write up?

Step 2: Identify and Organize Your Data Sources

AI is only as powerful as the data it can access! Ask yourself:

  • Do you have documented processes that can serve as a foundation?

  • Are there existing data repositories such as knowledge bases, FAQs, or historical case logs?

  • If not, do you need to create or organize this data to maximize AI's effectiveness?

The better your data is structured, the more powerful and accurate your AI-powered Agentforce experience will be!

Step 3: Start small and build

One of the things I’ve learned working in technology is that the best way to do new things is to start small with a beta project and build on ideas.

This could be just having a simple agent to answer FAQ questions for internal users or helping summarize key grant documents or data in your CRM. Because when you get a small but powerful idea working, it sparks so many other ways to use technology across teams, projects, organizations. My team and I often recommend this to organizations who are looking at adopting AI and Agentforce.

Step 4: Learn About Agentforce and AI

Not sure where to start? You don’t need to be an AI expert to leverage Agentforce effectively! We're all learning together, and the best way to get ahead is by becoming an Agentblazer.
