Spring ‘23 Release Features and Updates You May Have Missed
What is a release?
Three times per year, Salesforce delivers new features and enhancements to customers in a Salesforce Release.
The Spring ‘23 Release was added to Salesforce orgs on 2/3/2023 and 2/10/2023. You can lookup your release dates using your Salesforce instance.
Keep in mind that while some features are fully enabled, others need to be enabled by an admin or are limited to certain clouds and editions. You can find those details in the Release Notes and find additional release resources here.
Features
Dynamic report filters
You can now use personalized report filters that dynamically display results for each user.
When filtering on user fields, select “Use relative value”, which will automatically populate $USER into the value field.
Find the right report type
Spring ‘23 makes finding the right report type easier with the ability to Filter Report Types by Objects or Fields. You can filter report types by up to 20 objects or fields to ensure that the report will contain what you need.
To see this in action, click Filter in the Create Report window. Select either Salesforce objects or Fields and search.
Inline report editing
Reports now load quicker because fields aren’t automatically editable. When you want to edit record details, turn on inline field editing with the click of a button. More information here.
Dynamic actions
Add even more flexibility and control to actions on your record pages with Dynamic Actions for standard objects. This allows you to assign actions directly in the Lightning App Builder instead of the page layout, and apply filters to control when and where actions appear for users.
To enable dynamic actions, select the Highlights Panel component on the object’s record page. In the properties pane, click Upgrade Now, and use the migration assistant to migrate actions, or start with new ones.
To add an action, click Add Action (1). To assign visibility rules based on record field, device type, and other filters, choose an action, and click Add Filter (2). An eye icon (3) next to an action’s name indicates that visibility rules are applied.
View all in dynamic related lists
In Spring ‘23, you can now see the View All link in the Dynamic Related List - Single component, just like other related lists. Prior to this change, the View All link was not available and the users could see only a maximum of 30 records in dynamic related lists.
Updates
Enhanced domains
Salesforce deployed enhanced domains in production orgs in Spring ’23.
With enhanced domains, your My Domain name is included in the prefix of your URLs. For example, MyDomainName.my.salesforce.com (see all Enhanced Domain URL formats here).
However, this change can impact users who log in to your Salesforce org and your Experience Cloud sites. If the auto-deployment has impacted your users, here is a resource to Restore Access to Sites After Enhanced Domains Auto-Deployment.
Luckily, your old URLs will be redirected for a period of time. Learn more about My Domain Redirections from Salesforce Help.
To view and manage your domain settings, go to My Domain in Setup.
MFA
To help customers satisfy Salesforce’s multi-factor authentication requirement, starting with Spring ’23, and rolling out in phases throughout 2023, Salesforce will auto-enable MFA for direct logins.
If your users have experienced issues logging in as a result, see how to Regain Access to Your Account After Salesforce Automatically Enables Multi-Factor Authentication.
