Our favorite features coming in summer '20

Every Summer, Winter, and Spring, Salesforce releases a major update packed with enhancements and new features. All the updates are delivered real-time to ensure that all users run the same version of Salesforce.

We put our heads together with the ImagineCRM team and came up with our favorite features coming up in Summer ’20. Read on to find out what our favorites are! You can also find some additional resources at the end of this post.

Split View in Standard Navigation

This one is definitely a crowd favorite you’ll want to know about. Until now, you’ve only been able to view lists as a data Table or a Kanban board, this was okay, but it made it difficult to work on multiple records at once or navigate from one to another. With Summer ’20 Salesforce is introducing a new way to view and edit records in half the number of clicks: the Split View.

The Split View is a way to view your list and a record’s details side-by-side, edit the details, and add activities without ever losing sight of the list you’re working on.

Your list will remain visible on the left, while the details will display on the right:

Mobile Updates

This one is exciting for those of you who like to (or need to) work on the go.

Up until now, if you wanted to reorder the navigation items in your Salesforce mobile app, you had to make the changes on desktop to see them reflected in the app. With the Summer ’20 release, Salesforce will allow you to reorder your navigation menu in the app; the changes will then reflect on desktop.

For Android users: you will be able to clear your cache at any point to make sure you’re looking at the most up-to-date data.

For iOS users: you will be able to long press on a record to view the details, and you will no longer get a prompt when you click on a Salesforce link that your coworker texted you (woo!!!).

Subscribe to a report and get it in your inbox

Reports are essential for all successful organizations to gage progress and measure outcomes. With Summer ’20 you’ll be able to subscribe to a report and receive it as an Excel or CSV email attachment.

This feature is still in beta, but it’s worth a try: it may mean significant time savings for those who need periodic updates of the same report, or need to distribute the updates or share them externally.

To subscribe, find your report in your Salesforce org, and in the dropdown at the top right, click Subscribe. You’ll be able to define the details, frequency, time, and conditions.

Enhanced CMS for Lightning Communities

At ImagineCRM we think Lightning Communities are the best, and we love that Salesforce is expanding its customization functionality.

The Summer ’20 Communities CMS enhancements allow you to do mass content imports for articles, documents, and images directly into your community using the Salesforce CMS app (no more creating individual images to external URLs). You can now also Add Dynamic SEO Properties to Content Detail Pages and create Personalized CMS Collections for your users.

A New Optimizer App

This one is for Admins: have you ever wondered if there was anything that could make your org better for your users? Up until now, you could download an Optimizer PDF report to get insights, but using it was difficult if you wanted to navigate between the report and your instance and take the necessary adjustments (which could just be forgotten...)

With Summer ’20, Salesforce is releasing an Optimizer App, which gives you quick access to prioritized insights linking to the exact place where you can make the recommended changes. These insights are custom made for your org to help drive adoption, improve performance, and simplify maintenance.

Curious to see how it works? You can work your way through this Trailhead to learn to use Salesforce Optimizer and get insights into the health of your org.

So there you have it! These are some of the features we are most excited about!

There is a lot more to learn about Summer ’20: For a (relatively) condensed version, we recommend this Release in a Box for a more complete list of features, explanations, demos, and videos. For the full list, you can refer to the Summer ’20 Release Notes.

Also If you haven’t set up a Trailblazer.me profile yet, it’s a great place to expand your Salesforce skills (and it will now connect directly to your Salesforce Help tickets). You could start by making your way through the Summer ’20 Release Highlights trail and learn more about the upcoming features.

We are excited for this release and hope you enjoy all its new features!
